Introduction to Ashes to Ashes

EarthÆs future isnÆt pretty.
Devastated by decades of brutal warfare,
life on the planet barely survived into the twenty-second century.
As the worldÆs governments crumbled,
a single unifying force arose from the ashes. T
he Order was created to preserve the art of war while preventing mass destruction.
Under the OrderÆs control all disputes, whether personal,
political or corporate are now settled by armed combat in sanctioned arenas located
around the world.
Professional soldiers using state of the art weaponry fight to the death to decide
everything from corporate takeovers to trade deficits.
TheyÆre all equally armed and placed in neutral territory so thereÆs no home court
advantage or sneak attacks.
Nothing but guts and luck separate the winners from the losers.

This process of controlled combat has maintained the peace for twenty years
 but now something has gone wrong.
The arenas have become slaughter houses as soldiers turn on each other
killing everyone in sight. Some of the recovered bodies reveal a horrifying mystery.
The minds of a few of the soldiers have been twisted by fiendish brain implants.
These corrupted soldiers have spread rage and paranoia throughout the arenas.
If the Order cannot stop the spread of violence, the world may relapse into chaos.
Without the technology to counteract this evil mind control, the OrderÆs only option
is to send in their best agent to æclean houseÆ.
ThatÆs where you come in.
YouÆll be dropped into each of the arenas to ferret out the brain controlled
soldiers and destroy them. DonÆt waste time looking for allies, you wonÆt find any.
YouÆre on your own.
